Do you maybe want to start your new website now? If you do then there are chances that you have seen already many advertisements promoting free web hosts all over the Internet, including on the YouTube, Twitter and other big and even smaller affiliate websites.
Website owners are getting paid to put ads on their sites and most of the webmasters do not really care what kind of ads they display on their sites as long as they get paid well.
Everything which is free always seems really attractive on the surface, but today I am going to show you why using free web host is the worst choice possible for new webmasters that are just starting out.
While this may sound like a very nice offer for beginners, there are a number of problems that you could have in the future if you use such services.
Today you can learn the six main reasons why you should never use such free services and it is not a paid post 🙂
1) Free Web Hosting Is Not Really Free
If you think that these so called free web hosting companies host their clients’ sites really for free and they do not expect anything in return, well, then you have been tricked, my friend.
I have been building websites online since 1999 and I tell you that every single so called free web hosting company operates to make money out of off their clients and they surely are not running charities.
You may ask me how do they make cash?
Well, if you sing up with them and you create your own WordPress site, they will put ads on all of your sites and they will not ask you where to put them or even if you want to have them displayed on your website or not.
They will put as many ads as possible, because the more ads they add, the more money they can make.
Most of free hosts will not even allow you to monetize your traffic and the WordPress.com prohibits website owners to display any kinds of ads unless you pay a big fee.
If you use such sites, you can expect to have your site filled with tons of very annoying pop-ups and banners ads that you not only can not get rid of them but you will not get a single cent from them.
Do you think your visitors will like this kind of site? They may even like your posts, but they will leave your site quickly, because surfers hate spammy sites that are loaded with shitty ads.
So, the bottom line is that every single free web hosting company wants to make some cash somehow and they generate most the money off of people that use their “free” service.
2) Lack Of Good Support
If you sign up for a reliable paid web hosting, you will get a good customer support, so if your website encourages some issues, your web host support will fix any issues quickly for you.
Now, if you are going to use a free web hosting and God forbid your site is going to get infected with some kind of malware, then guess what?
You are either going to find a way to get rid of it on your own or you will have to wait hours or even days for an auto reply that obviously will not help you in any way.
Let me be honest with you, if you are new to creating websites online and you do not have any knowledge about servers and hosting control panels, then unless you are willing to spend lots of hours learning things about hosting from scratch, it is going to be hard to remove bugs yourself.
A lack of proper customer support is another reason why you should avoid free web host providers like fire.
3) Ruins Your Reputation
Now, please answer this question honestly. Do you think that a website with the domain name of yoursitename.blogspot.com looks professional to your potential clients?
I, myself, for once, would never buy anything for the online shop that has the domain like yoursuplements.freeblog.com.
If you use free web hosts for your site, it will ruin your reputation and it will basically tell your visitors that you are not serious about your own business since you do not want to invest around 10 dollars a year for a domain name and a paid hosting.
You can have a great looking site with amazing products, but the unprofessional url certainly will not build trust and credibility when people come to your business site.
Do you want to get any traffic to your site from the Google?
Forget about that.
Search engine sites such as Google and Yahoo will also not take you seriously and there is no doubt that they will not rank your site as high as if you were using a paid hosting and your own domain.
Just try to look for anything on the Google and you will never or very rarely find any sites that are using free hosting on the first few results pages.
4) Website Ownership Issues
One of the main reasons why you should never ever use any kind of free web hosting is because of website ownership issues.
What does it mean? You may ask me.
Did you know that if you use a free web hosting for your blog, you are no longer the real owner of the site?
Anything you add to your site, it can be an article, picture, video, it automatically becomes the property of the hosting company.
Let’s say that this company that you are hosting your sites on for free, can basically remove your website and all the data that you are using without any notice.
Like I said earlier, I have been blogging for ages and I have seen and I still see free hosting companies come and go as they want and the real victims are always people that use their services.
How would you feel if one day your whole blog with hundreds of posts would suddenly vanish?
Most free web hosting companies can (and probably will) remove your sites from their servers without giving any reason at all, because they are allowed to do so since it is written in their terms and conditions.
They can do it perfectly legally and that is why you should never use such services in your life.
5) Limited Resources
Another thing to consider is that free web hosts offer you very limited disk space and their servers are always overcrowded and that is why your site might shut down very often.
If your blog starts to get more traffic or if one of your posts gets viral, it is almost certain that your website will go down and slow page load issues will be a daily occurrence.
You need to know that every downtime has a negative impact on your online business and it not acceptable for a legitimate website to have such issues.
Truth be told, if your visitors will have to wait way too long for your website to load, then you will lose your potential clients in a heartbeat and it is only a matter of time when people just stop coming to your website.
6) No Proper Security
While paid hosting service spends lots of money on improving the security and they really spend a lot of effort on it, unlike the free host providers that spend as little money as they can on such crucial elements of any online business.
With such poor security practices, you should not be surprised that so many websites that are hosted by free host providers are being hacked every single day.
Are you interested in creating a website for your business? You will surely need a paid hosting that is secure and reliable, not a free host full of security loopholes.
In Conclusion
Back in the day, I also started a one site on a free web host and I used the site called 000webhost. I created some content on a regular basis and the one day my post came popular on a one bigger subreddit and my site crashed.
They could not get back the data but luckily for me, I had a backup saved on my computer and I said to myself that it is enough so I moved my site to a paid host.
It was a really terrible experience and trust me, you do not want to go through something like that.
Are you going to build a hobby blog or a website for your business?
It does not really matter, if you do not care that your website will be filled with tons of unrelated ads, go down many times a day, may get hacked or even deleted from the web out of blue after you put in a lot of effort into it, then you can use a free hosting.
A paid service is the only real choice if you are ever going to make any money from your site and if you want to run a website that your visitors will take seriously.
In 2018, everyone can afford a paid web host, even students with very tight budgets since it costs only a few dollars a month to have your own server where you will host your new sites.
If you are a newbie that is searching for a very affordable paid host, then you can purchase your own shared account for less than $3 a month at the 247-Host’s site.
They offer a very quality service and they will save you from a lot of problems. I am using them myself for some of my other websites.
The choice is yours, at the end of the day.
